Interviews for the final candidates for Winfield’s chief of police position should begin sometime next week, city manager Warren Porter said Wednesday.
The city has nearly finished narrowing the list to five. At least three who make the final interviews will be external candidates, Porter said. The position has been vacant since Jerry DeVore retired in December.
It has remain unfilled so the city can save money to offset a budget shortfall.
