Assault, kidnapping part of bizarre break-in

Two men and a woman were arrested Friday after an incident in Arkansas City in which the threesome is accused of entering a home, assaulting two adults and attempting to flee with an infant child, police said.

Thomas Davison, 32, Andrea McHargue, 40, and Nathan Topper, 28, were booked into the Cowley County Jail and face a number of charges. Each is being held on $50,000 bond.

An investigation into the incident occurred Friday when police were sent to the 800 block of N. Summit to investigate a disturbance. When they arrived, officers found Davison and McHargue but were told Topper had fled in a vehicle as officers arrived, according to police chief Sean Wallace.

Topper was eventually located and had blood on him when he was found, according to a written report of the incident.

Witnesses at the scene told police that Davison, McHargue and Topper entered a residence in the 800 block of Summit without permission and struck a man and woman. A second man in the home was reportedly threatened.

Those in the home said McHargue then picked up their infant child and left the home. Eventually she was persuaded to return the child, Wallace said.
Police believe Davison broken into the home by kicking the front door in and then kicked the male victim in the face, causing injury.

But apparently the accused entered the wrong place. Wallace said Davison reportedly had an issue with someone who lived next door to where the incident occurred.

None of the suspects has been formally charged but here is a rundown of the charges they could face:

Davison was arrested on two separate cases he was arrested for aggravated Burglary, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and battery.?

McHargue was arrested for kidnapping, aggravated Burglary, and escape from custody because Wallace said she ran away from officers while in handcuffs but was caught in short order.

Topper was arrested for battery and aggravated burglary and assault.
