AC cops: Man damaged car in attempted theft

A man was arrested Sunday in Arkansas City after damaging a car and attempting to steal it as it sat in the parking lot at Wal-Mart, according to a report from Ark City police.

Police arrived at the store around 3:50 p.m., to investigate the report of criminal damage and attempted motor vehicle theft. They learned the incident had just occurred and was captured on video.

The suspect, Harvey "Boe" Anthony Bolfing II, was found at the La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant, a short distance from Wal-Mart. Bolfing was arrested and police said they found evidence linking him to the vehicle.

The car, according to the report, was so badly damaged that it couldn’t immediately be moved from the store parking lot. Boe Bolfing faces charges of burglary to a motor vehicle, felony criminal damage to property and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

He was being held in the county jail on $7,000 bond.
