KHP releases names of those hurt in crash

UPDATE: 11 p.m. – All those involved in the accident Tuesday are expected to fully recover. Ford is the only reported to still be in the hospital.

UPDATE: 6:04 p.m. – The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified those injured in the accident on K-15 Tuesday afternoon east of Udall. A report on the accident also shows a third vehicle was involved.

Heather Ann Ford, 43, Udall, was the driver of the 2009 Chrysler involved in the accident. She was transported to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition. She was the only occupant in that vehicle.

Houmphanh Vorasane, 51, Winfield, was the driver of the 2000 Toyota passenger pickup. He had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Wesley Medical Center. A passenger, Lasay Phakonekham, 55, Winfield, was seriously injured.

A second passenger Kongsy S. Vorasane, 43, Winfield, was also taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries.

Four passengers in a Peterbilt farm truck ? which was struck by the Toyota pickup truck after the Toyota collided with Chrysler ? were not injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that Heather Ford was westbound on K-15 when she attempted to pass the Peterbilt farm truck on a bridge about five miles east of Udall. Ford’s vehicle collided with Vorasane’s truck, which was traveling in the opposite direction.

Ford’s Chrysler bounced off the pickup truck, hit the Peterbilt and ended up in the south ditch, according to the KHP report.

Ford was listed in fair condition by 6:20 p.m. Kongsy Vorasane was also in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson. Conditions for the other two involved were not immediately available.

An accident just east of Udall Tuesday afternoon has sent four people to the hospital – at least two of whom were considered to be in critical condition.

The accident involved a red four-door passenger car and a small green truck. Details of the wreck have yet to be released.

Crews worked for at least 25 minutes to free one man from the wreckage of the truck using extrication equipment.

K-15 was closed for a time and yet to be reopened as of 3:30 p.m.

Three passengers were taken to a hospital in Wichita and one was transported to Winfield. Emergency crews from a number of area agencies were on the scene.
