4 more die on accident on turnpike in Sumner

Four people were killed on the Kansas turnpike in Sumner County early Monday morning.

A minivan in the southbound lane collided with an SUV that had turned north and began driving into oncoming traffic, according to media reports. A semi struck the minivan after the initial collision.

Three people inside the minivan died and so did the driver of the SUV. The driver of the semi was hospitalized but his injuries are not considered life threatening.

The accident happened around 5 a.m.

This is the second quadruple fatality on the turnpike in Sumner County in the past month.
