Robert Meadows

Robert J. Meadows, 65, of Winfield, died April 12, 2010 at his home.

Services for Meadows were held Friday, April 16, at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Winfield. Chaplin Harold Gross was the officiant. Military honors were provided by the Winfield American Legion and V.F.W.

Arrangements were made by Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.

Meadows was born in McPherson, on February 28, 1945 to Wilson and Marjorie "Billie"(Henderson) Meadows. The family then moved to Winfield where he was reared and educated in the local schools. He was a life-long resident of Cowley County.

Meadows worked as a self-employed heating and air-conditioning repairman. He also worked for Total Petroleum as a truck driver and for Morgan Drive Away, which transported trailer homes.

He served his country during the Vietnam War in the Navy as a landing gear assembler. He was a member of the Winfield American Legion and V.F.W.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Meadows, Emporia; his sisters, Aeronca (Rocky) White, Arkansas City, and Nancy, Walsenberg. Colo.; his brothers, Chris Meadows, Walsenberg, Colo. and James Meadows, Denver, Colo.; his cousin, Kenny Akler, Seattle, Wash.; his stepmother – Ester and (Lee) Trujillo of Gardner, Colo., his stepmother’s children, Katie, Roberta and Edmos and his nieces, Wyndi Sester and Gina Sester.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery.
