Leona Snyder

Leona T. Snyder, 99, of Winfield, and a former Burden resident, passed away Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.

Private funeral services will be held.

A memorial has been established in Leona’s name for the Burden United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Born September 12, 1910, near Akron, she was the daughter of Ray and Leora (Waite) Berry. She attended schools in Akron and later graduated from Winfield High School in 1928.

She was united in marriage to Donald B. Snyder on June 12, 1929, in Winfield. The couple made their first home east of Winfield. In 1943, the couple moved to Burden where they farmed. Her husband preceded her in death on May 25, 2003.

Leona was a member of the Burden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flowers and music.

She is survived by her sons, Roger Snyder and wife, Cina, Burden, and Jerry Snyder and wife, Margaret, Scott City; her sister, Janie Snell and husband, Marvin, Arkansas City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ray Snyder; her brothers, Bob Berry and Raymond Berry; and her sister, Helen Baker.
