USD 470 will again offer free summer meals

The Ark City school district will again offer free meals to children this summer, district officials said. This is the fourth year for the program.

Breakfast and lunch will be served free of charge Monday through Thursday to any child from one to 18 years of age. The meals are offered from June 1 to June 30 when summer school is in session.

Parents can take their child or children to Roosevelt Elementary, 1201 N. 10th, or to the middle school, 400 E. Kansas. Breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m to 9 a.m and lunch is from noon to 12:30 p.m.

High school students participating in summer school will eat at the middle school and will have breakfast at 7:30 a.m and lunch at 11 a.m.

Chartwells, the district’s food service provided, will serve the summer meals. The federal government reimburses the district for costs associated with the program.
