Gladys Morgan

Gladys L. Morgan, 105, of Hutchinson, Kan., and former Hackney resident, passed away Friday evening, June 18, 2010, at the Hutchinson Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hackney Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 9 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Morgan’s name for the Hackney Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Born on November 2, 1904, in Winfield, Gladys was the daughter of Ed and Ella (Miller) Askins. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1925.

Gladys was united in marriage to Glenn A. Morgan on September 6, 1932, at the Hackney Baptist Church in Hackney where she was a member for 73 years. Glenn and Gladys lived and farmed south of Hackney. Mr. Morgan preceded her in death on September 11, 1995.

She is survived by her son, Victor Morgan and wife, Beverly, of Peyton, Colo.; her daughters, Glenda Bryant and husband, Delbert, of Junction City, and Helen McKenzie of Hutchinson; her brother: Carl Askins and wife, Iris, of Winfield; her seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Askins; her sister, Hazel Spengler; and her grandson, Michael Morgan.
