Southwestern fall frenzy to get underway soon

Southwestern College’s new school year will kick off with the annual Fall Frenzy slated to begin Aug. 22.

School itself starts on Aug. 25, but the college hosts a number of frenzy activities that take place earlier in the week. The event offers new and returning students a look at aspects of the college with which they may be unfamiliar.

The first students on campus will be the freshman. They move into their residence halls Aug. 18, beginning at 9 a.m.

Following a 3 p.m. Farewell Worship for students and parents, the newly-arrived freshmen will head to Builder Camp at Rock Springs Ranch near Junction City.

Freshmen Work Day will take place on Saturday, Aug. 21.

Since 1992, Southwestern College freshmen, along with Leadership Southwestern students and faculty and staff, have blanketed the city of Winfield on the first Saturday the freshmen arrive.

The goal is to promote feelings of community among incoming students as well as a sense of belonging to the college and the city of Winfield.

Freshmen Work Day also strives to make a difference by establishing new relationships between the college and the community by assisting homeowners with indoor and outdoor home projects that they would otherwise not be able to complete.

The complete Fall Frenzy schedule is as follows:
