Nelda Meyer

Nelda Lucille Meyer, 85, of Rock, Kan., died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Riverview Manor of Oxford.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Atlanta Christian Church in Atlanta. Pastor Lyle Burwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wilmot Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Atlanta Christian Church or the Prairie View United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Nelda was born December 21, 1924, in Atlanta to Curtis and Maggie (Billiter) Holt. She was reared and educated in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School in 1942. Nelda married Don Meyer on May 29, 1949, in Atlanta. The couple made their home near Rock.

Survivors include her husband, Don, of the home; three daughters: Sharon and her husband, Walt Koontz, Sedan, Joleen and her husband, John Coupe, Rock, and Glenda and her husband, Forrest Goodwin, Arkansas City; a brother, Keith Holt and wife, Betty, Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Freda Mae and her husband, Max Grade, Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven grandchildren Sara McCoy, Andrea Kelley, Allison Minor, David Coupe, Kaylie Mistretta, Lindsey Coupe, Chad Goodwin and Zach Goodwin; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Nelda was a life long member of the Atlanta Christian Church and was one of the longest living members, only missing when health issues interfered. Nelda enjoyed music, flowers, quilting, crocheting and the laughter of those around her. Despite her handicap Nelda attended all of her children’s and activities, supporting them in all of their endeavors.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
