2 face charges in rash of local car burlgaries

Two suspects have been arrested and jailed in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries in Cowley County.

Angel Pino, 18, Wellington, and Frank Dunn, 31, are each facing seven counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle and criminal damage to property. Ark City Police said bond was set at $33,250.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the recreation building at Cowley College in response to a report that theft from a motor vehicle had taken place. A victim was able to provide a description of the vehicle and its occupants.

The vehicle was stopped west of Ark City a short time later. Some of the items taken from the car burglary at the college were visible in the suspects’ vehicle.

Authorities impounded the vehicle and obtained a search warrant.. The search turned up several other items linking Pino and Dunn to other cases being worked by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office and Winfield police.

Seven vehicles are believed to have been broken into so that items could be removed. All the missing property has been recovered, Ark City police said in a written report.
