A Cowley County judge has approved a steep bond reduction for Oscar Galindo, an Ark City man who was on the lam for a year after fleeing during a large-scale drug blitz in January 2010.
Galindo was in court Friday and saw his bond reduced from $500,000 to $35,000 by Judge Jim Pringle. The court would require the 40-year-old drug suspect to wear a GPS device to monitor his location, according to a court spokesperson.
Galindo – who had appeared on the state’s most wanted list – was arrested earlier this month by authorities in Sedgwick County.
Charges against him include conspiracy to distribute meth, cocaine or marijuana. Law enforcement and court officials had been concerned about a reduction because Galindo fled from authorities during the raid and avoided capture for nearly a year.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Galindo remained in the Cowley County Jail.
The Kansas Attorney General’s Office is in charge of prosecuting all cases associated with last year’s drug blitz.
