Thomas Gene Kent, 57, died Friday January 28, 2011 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee, KS.
The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2011 and a Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2011 both at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield.
Tom was born November 26, 1953 at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield to Gene Raybourn Kent and Mary Catherine Kent.
On April 26, 1974 Tom was married to Theresa Sue Wilkerson and spent 36 year together. Both settled down in Arkansas City, where they raised two children Jason Dale Kent and Jennifer Diane Kent. Tom worked for 23 years at Rubbermaid starting in 1976 and retiring in 1999. Tom was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus in Arkansas City, and was also very active in Arkansas City’s Youth League Baseball.
Tom was often known to make a stranger feel like a friend, and considered his friends to be family. Tom was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He will be greatly missed. He was an avid singer in his church and community.
Tom is survived by his son, Jason of Shawnee; Daughter, Jennifer of Arkansas City; three grandson’s, Matthew Eli, Jackson and Harper Kent and two granddaughter’s Taylore and Teressa Kent.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Rae Kent and brother, Gregory Allen Kent.
