Kansas Voices writing contest taking entries

Kansas writers have about a month remaining to prepare submissions for the annual Kansas Voices Writing contest.

All entries must be postmarked by March 15.

Winners will be honored and invited to read their work at a special presentation May 7 that is part of Kanza Days.

Dinner is served for $9 per person.

Writers may enter in two categories, poetry or prose-short story in youth or adult divisions. Youth division participants must be enrolled in high school or under 18.

Eligible writers must live in Kansas and entries must be accompanied by a $3 submission fee per entry. Winners in adult categories will receive $275 and winners in the youth categories will receive $100. There will be $250 given to honorable mentions.

Three books have been published: Kansas Voices: Winning Entries from the First Five Years 1990-1994; Kansas Voices: Winning Entries from the Second Five Years 1995-1999; Kansas Voices: Winning Entries from the Third Five Years 2000-2004.
