A woman who wandered into a Wichita Fire Station Tuesday has been identified by police as an elderly Ark City resident, KAKE News reports.
The 61-year-old woman walked into Fire Station 4 at Meridian and Irving. For two days, Wichita police and medical officials were unaware of her identity, although she was always aware of who she was.
The woman is said to suffer from mental issues. Her name is not being released and she remains hospitalized to receive treatment.
The woman is said to have fallen in her home in Ark City earlier this week. She came to Wichita with a friend and decided to take a walk when she showed up at the fire department.
The woman had no ID and could not speak to firefighters. The Wichita media had been asked to assist in identifying the woman.
