Survivor of fatal crash near Ark City improving

David S. Coberley – the survivor of a fiery automobile crash that killed two others last month – has been upgraded to serious condition.

Coberley, 39, previously had been listed in critical condition at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. A hospital spokesperson confirmed the man’s condition has improved.

Coberley, of Ark City, was the driver of a Ford Excursion that collided with a vehicle driven by Andrea C. Johnson, 32, of Geuda Springs. Johnson was hospitalized for several days before dying as a result of her injuries.

The accident occurred on 252nd Rd., northwest of Ark City.

The accident Feb. 19 also claimed the life of 4-year-old Johnathan D. Coberley.

Services for the younger Coberley are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church in Ark City.
