Former Winfield resident found dead in Tulsa

Larry Flippin – a Cowley County man who had relocated to Oklahoma in recent months – was found dead in a Tulsa apartment March 1.

Authorities were called when a friend visited Flippin’s residence around 1 p.m. to check on him and found that the man had died, a Tulsa Police spokesperson said Friday. There was nothing at the scene that suggested foul play was involved.

Police have turned over the case to the medical examiner’s office and an autopsy was conducted. Given Flippin’s age, he was 35, investigators will attempt to confirm a cause of death before closing the case.

Flippin may have been familiar to patrons of Neives’ Mexican Restaurant and the former Captain Tony’s Pizza and Pasta Emporium in Winfield.

The man required the use of crutches to be mobile in his everyday life.

"I always admired how hard he worked," a friend of the man said Sunday.
