New pet store to open in Winfield on Monday

Beginning Monday, Winfield will have a new pet store.

The Pet Room, owned and operated by Krys Clift, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday each week. It’s located at 2205 E. Ninth, not far from the high school.

Clift will carry a variety of small pets, including hamsters, fish, birds, rats and large spiders. Her focus will be on providing children’s pets.

Clift was a middle school science teacher in Udall before, she said, budget cuts left her without a job. She always cared for a number of pets at her home and with Cowley County’s only pet store closing in Ark City, Clift figured now was the time to give the venture a go.

“We’ll be starting off small and humble,” she said.

The Pet Room will carry feeder mice, rats and crickets for those with pets whose diet require them. The store will also carry the Blue Buffalo line of pet food.
