Cowley County Sheriff’s Report for March 24, 2011

Deputies were advised by a Burden resident that she had been contacted in a telephone scam attempting to persuade her to wire $481 to a wire address in order to claim a $4 million prize she had won. She recognized the scam did not fall for it.

Deputies transported four prisoners to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

Deputies were dispatched to the report of a cow out of the highway at US 77 and 82nd Rd. No cow was found there, but one calf was found out at US 77 and 122nd Rd.

Deputies responded with the Winfield Fire Department to a small grass fire in the 6000 block of US 160.

Deputies took a criminal damage to property report in the 18000 block of 323rd Rd.

Deputies received a wallet that had been found in the 26200 block of US 77 was subsequently found to have been previously reported stolen to the Winfield Police Department.

Deputies were dispatched to a neighborhood dispute in the 9000 block of 146th Rd.

Deputies were dispatched with Ark City Emergency Medical Services to the report of a person not breathing in the 33000 block of Tower Rd.

Deputies arrested Franklin Michael Sanderlin, Sedan, on a failure to appear warrant from Cowley County District Court.

Deputies stopped to assist a disabled motorist and discovered that the driver, Adrian Porter, Ark City, had a failure to appear warrant from Ark City Municipal Court. He was arrested on that count.

Deputies responded with the Ark City Fire Department to a grass fire at a resident in the 31900 block of 61st Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to a battery report involving juveniles in the 17000 block of 291st Rd. Two juveniles were taken into custody and transported to juvenile intake.

Deputies received a complaint from an out-of-state party regarding a telephone call received from a party in the IXL area.

Deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle non–injury accident in the 6000 block of K – 15 Highway. The driver was subsequently arrested and booked into the Cowley County jail for driving under the influence.

Deputies were dispatched to check a report of debris in the roadway in the 33000 block of US 77.

Deputies assisted a party just released from the Cowley County jail with a ride to Ark City.

Deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of 101st Rd. for a report of deprivation of property. A 24-year-old male was subsequently taken into custody on that violation.
