Cowley County Sheriff’s Report for March 28, 2011

Deputies were called to the Cowley County jail to take a report of an inmate assaulting a correctional officer.

Deputies were dispatched to check a report of cattle out in the 14000 block of 121st Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to take a report of scrap metal theft from a Strother Field business.

Deputies arrested Edgar Torres, Ark City, on a probation violation warrant.

While checking a possible domestic disturbance in the 18000 block of US 77, deputies contacted Chancey Lynch, Winfield, for whom they discovered there was a failure to appear warrant from Barton County. She was arrested on that warrant and booked into the Cowley County jail.

Deputies were dispatched to check on a county resident who was reported possibly suicidal. The party was subsequently located in Winfield, was evaluated by the Cowley County Mental Health, and determined not to be a threat to themself or others.

Deputies took an identity theft report from a resident of the Lakewynds addition.

While assisting Community Corrections officers with a home visit on a probationer at Ark City, deputies found the male smoking marijuana and was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.

Deputies were contacted by another Udall resident regarding the ‘spoofing’ scam in which telephone calls can be made showing an incorrect number as the source of those calls.

Deputies arrested Jade Coble, Ark City, on a failure to appear warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of cattle out in the 13000 block of 136th Rd.

Deputies checked a disabled motorist in the 23000 block of US 77.

Deputies assisted Mulvane Police officers with a vehicle pursuit that started in Mulvane and extended into Cowley County before ending with the arrest of a Wichita resident for numerous traffic and driving violations at 21st Rd. and 82nd Rd., south of Udall. The driver was returned to Sedgwick County by Mulvane officers with numerous charges pending in Cowley County.

The K – 9 deputy and his Police Service Dog (Khar) assisted Ark City Police officers and Cowley County Community College security personnel with several searches on the college campus.

Deputies were dispatched to the 33000 block of 61st Rd. to check the report of someone heard screaming in the area. A neighbor was found yelling at a barking dog and was asked to hold down the yelling.

Deputies transported a prisoner to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.
