Several WIS students hit with mystery illness

Winfield school district officials are not sure what mystery illness made several Winfield Intermediate School students mildly sick Thursday.

At least one student required medical attention for symptoms that included nausea, headache and dizziness. However, that student later returned to school, a school spokesperson said.

School officials, according to parents, said no definitive cause for the illness could be found. Areas of the school were checked for a possible gas leak and other causes were dismissed.

District officials issued a warning to parents about the sickness and encouraged those with symptoms to contact their family physician. But classes and other activities continued as usual.
