Cowley County Sheriff’s Report for May 3, 2011

Deputies were dispatched to Rock on the report of a burglary involving the theft of a Craftsman push lawn mower.

Deputies transported a Mental Health involuntary commitment from Ark City to the Larned State Hospital.

Deputies transported two prisoners to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

Deputies were contacted regarding a prior incident of reckless driving that had reportedly occurred in the 25000 block of 61st Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of 12th Rd for additional information concerning a prior theft at that location.

Deputies checked the status of horses in the 10000 block of 21st Rd pursuant to a previous call.

Deputies discovered a calf out in the roadway in the 17000 block of K-15.

Deputies arrested Matthew Stucky, Winfield, on a failure to appear warrant.

Deputies responded with Winfield, Emergency Medical Services to a medical call in the 16000 block of 192nd Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle behind the Valley Co-Op facility at Hackney. The vehicle was determined to be a BNSF Railroad truck and employee checking the tracks.

Deputies were dispatched to a car/deer accident in the 24000 block of US 166.

Deputies were dispatched to check a disabled vehicle in the 33000 block of US 166.

Deputies were dispatched to check a disabled vehicle in the 33000 block of US 77. The vehicle was found to be out of gas and the driver was given a ride to work with plans to pick up the car later.

Deputies wee dispatched to check a fire in the ditch in the 5000 block of US 166. It was found to be a previously reported controlled burn that was being well monitored.

Deputies took a report of an aggravated battery that had occurred in Wichita and coordinated between the parties involved and Wichita Police Department ovvicers for necessary follow-up.
