Train Show coming to Arkansas City in May

The Cherokee Strip Train Show is coming to Ark City May 21-22 this month.

The show, which features model trains, will be held at the Agri-Business Building, 712 W. Washington, in Ark City. The doors open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and close at 5 p.m. On Sunday, doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

Admission for the show is $3 for and children under 12 are free with an accompanying adult.

The Cherokee Strip Train Show is in its ninth year. Some may remember the show as the SK3R Train Show. The show was given to the Cherokee Strip Land Rush Museum in 2009.

The show boasts five train layouts in G, O and S gauges.

There will be tables packed with train memorabilia, cars, track, buildings and more. Last year the show had over 100 tables and this year’s show promises to be better.

Come on out to the Cherokee Strip Train Show and step into that old time railroad atmosphere. Watch the trains round the curve on the layouts and pick up some great merchandise.
