Man who collapsed at high school improving

Billy Bearden is recovering in a Wichita hospital after collapsing at Winfield High School during rehearsal for a musical performance.

Bearden was listed in good condition this morning at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, according to a spokesperson. He has been hospitalized since Tuesday, when he stopped breathing for a time and had to be revived by emergency medical personnel.

Bearden is an accompanist for the school’s music department. He has a history of heart problems.
