JUNE 6

Deputies and Ark City Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the 30000 block of US 166 to assist a Chautauqua County Emergency Medical Service unit that had experienced vehicle trouble while transporting a patient to the South Central Kansas Medical Center.

A lost license tag decal was reported from a Winfield resident.

Cattle were out in the 16000 block of US 160.

An identity theft report was taken from a rural Atlanta resident.

Illegal target shooting was reported in various areas of the Kaw Wildlife Area during the evening hours.

Deputies were dispatched to check a possible drunk driver northbound in the 24000 block of US 77. Before arrival they were advised the vehicle was then southbound on US 77 and had struck a car parked on the edge of the road in the 26200 block. The suspect vehicle was ultimately contacted at the Windsor Apartments in Ark City where it struck a car in the apartment parking lot. The Ark City Police Department investigated that accident. A deputy investigated the hit-and-run accident on US 77 and another deputy investigated and tested the 74-year-old male driver and subsequently arrested him for driving under the influence and failure to report an accident.

A juvenile throwing rocks at passing cars was investigated inthe 21000 block of 81st Rd.

A Burden resident requested assistance with questions regarding the process for repossessing an item.

Cattle on the road was reported in the 16000 block of US 160.

Deputies were called to the Winfield Police Department to meet with the person regarding a domestic property dispute.

Deputies were dispatched to a landlord/tenant issue in the 14000 block of 136th Rd.

Jacqueline Greever, Winfield, and Summer Potter, Ark City, were arrested on probation violation warrants.

An illegal dumping complaint in the 3000 block of 232nd Rd. was taken.

A truck was reported losing its load eastbound on US 160 from 21st Rd.

A report of a car/deer accident that had occurred in the 33000 block of US 77 was taken in the 600 block of South Summit, Ark City.

A suspicious car parked near the K-360/US 160 intersection was checked.

Kristina Dockins and Joseph Thompson, both of Ark City, were arrested on failure to appear warrants.

There was a small grass fire caused by a backfiring lawnmower carburetor in the 31000 block of Hoover Avenue.

Suspicious activity was checked in the 18000 block of 71st Rd.

An open door at the Winfield Country Club was discovered and secured by deputies.

A dead deer was removed from the road in the 13800 block of US 166.

Deputies checked for a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes in the 22000 block of US 77.

A semi truck that appeared to be having problems, eastbound from the Sumner County line on US 160, was located and the driver reported he had lost a turbo and was limping home to Winfield.

A pedestrian found walking southbound in the 32000 block of US 77 was assisted.

JUNE 7

A light reported to be on in an unoccupied residence in the 3000 block of 152nd Rd. was checked.

An abandoned vehicle was checked in the 16900 block of 21st Rd.

A two vehicle non-injury accident was reported in the 2400 block of 302nd Rd.

Hay bales were reported on fire in the 12000 block of 75th Rd. Deputies assisted with traffic control while the Fire Department handled the fire.

A suspected dead horse was checked in the 4500 block of 252nd Rd. All horses at that location were found to be fine and it was suspected the horse had been lying down when the caller drove by.

Deputies assisted Ark City Police officers at the scene of an injury accident at the intersection of Chestnut and US 77.

A domestic disturbance in the 9300 block of 292nd Rd. was checked.

Deputies observed and made contact with a vehicle in the 23000 block of 85th Rd. that was reported to have been involved in an aggravated assault case being investigated by the Winfield Police Department. The 26-year-old male driver was ultimately arrested for aggravated assault, aggravated weapons violation, two counts of possession of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies were dispatched to a car/deer accident in the 26000 block of US 77.

A residential alarm was checked in the 18000 block of 232nd Rd.

A prisoner was transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department
