Cowley County is included in an area at moderate risk for severe storms expected to move through the area this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Main threats of this storm could include high winds up to 80 miles per hour, large hail and an isolated tornado. The storm front is expected to reach Cowley County sometime around 5 p.m.
A severe storm watch is expected for Cowley County by 3 p.m.
Emergency management officials urge residents to take an opportunity to review personal, family and work emergency plans. Take all warnings seriously and be ready to take cover as needed, director Brian Stone said Monday.
