Cowley County Sheriff’s Report for July 5, 2011

Cattle were out in the 24000 block of K-15.

Deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers assisted the Callie County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 612 parish in Atlanta. José Valencia, Jr, and Kimberly Parker, both of Atlanta, were arrested for possession of meth, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A child in need of care case was also filed and 12-year-old and 15-year-old children Were taken into law enforcement protective custody and released to juvenile services due to living conditions at the residence.

A damage license tag report was taken from a county resident so he could obtain a new tag.

Deputies talked with the resident in the vicinity of the 25000 block of 141st Rd. regarding concerns about three small grass fires that had been started along the roadway in that section earlier. The fires were quickly extinguished by the Ark City Fire Department, but the resident was concerned about the nature of the fires and potential danger.

A reportedly recklessly driven semi-truck eastbound from Sumner County on US 166 was checked.

A possible fraudulent check misappropriation by a Mulvane contractor that was performing a job for a Udall business was checked.

A possible theft report in Udall was taken.

An open front door at an abandoned residence near Lindbergh Avenue and 61st Rd. was checked. It was found that the structure is being dismantled.

The status of chickens was checked in the 33000 block of 61st Rd.

A telephone harassment complaint was taken from a rural Winfield resident.

Debris was removed from the road at US 77 and South Summit.

Winfield Police Department Requested the assistance of deputies in looking for a suspect involved in a domestic disturbance in Winfield. Deputies subsequently located and arrested a 22-year-old Ark City resident on charges of domestic battery and disorderly conduct in that case.

Deputies were called to the Cowley County jail to assist detention staff and an Ark City Police officer get a combative female prisoner into a holding cell.
