Two arrested after search for drugs in Atlanta

Two people were arrested and face drug charges in connection with the search of a home in Atlanta Tuesday morning.

The Cowley County Drug Task Force – with assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol and sheriff’s deputies – executed a search warrant at 612 Parrish. Jose Melquaides Valencia Jr., 46, and Kimberly Ann Parker, 46, were arrested and face counts of meth and pot possession and possession of paraphernalia.

Both suspects in the case live at the residence.

Two children, ages 12 and 15, were taken into the protective custody of law enforcement and later released to juvenile services, according to the sheriff’s department.

A child in need of care case was filed for the children because of living conditions at the home.

The search occurred around 10 a.m.
