Teens arrested for vehicle break-ins Thursday

Four Ark City teens are suspects in a string of vehicle burglaries early Thursday morning.

So far six residents, in the 800 block of South B and the 600 block of South C, have reported being the victims of burglary and theft from their vehicles overnight. The teens were detained when police saw them walking in a neighborhood carrying property that was reported stolen, according to Ark City chief Sean Wallace.

Dakota Hughes, 18, and Andrew Hamiltion, 18, were arrested and booked into the Cowley County Jail. They face theft and burglary charges.

Hughes bond is set at $16,000 and bond for Hamilton is set at $7,000.

Two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, are also facing charges.

Police urge residents to park their vehicles off the street when possible or under a street light. All visible valuables should be removed, Wallace said.

If your car was burglarized Thursday and you have not reported it, you are asked to call the Ark City Police Department.
