Cowley County Sheriff’s Report for July 12, 2011
A cow was out in the 17000 block of K-15 N. of Dexter.
Goats were out along the road in the 12000 block of US 160.
The welfare of a horse was checked in the 24000 block of 141st Rd.
A resident contacted deputies regarding stray dogs that had shown up at a resident in the 26000 block of 261st Rd.
Two young children walking on the road was checked in the 6000 block of 306th Rd.
A resident had been contacted in an apparent scam attempt to get that resident to wire $2000 to a distant location to get a purported grandson out of jail. It was determined to be a bogus call.
Theft of gasoline cans and gasoline were reported from two separate residences in the area of the 31000 block of 91st Rd. Also stolen from one residence was a DeWalt cordless drill and battery charger.
A male was reported to be passed out in a yard in the 7000 block of 162nd Rd. He was transported to William Newton Hospital by Winfield Emergency Medical Services.
A child custody dispute occurred in the 6000 block of 304th Rd.
Deputies assisted Sumner County deputies with a mobile domestic battery reportedly in progress just west of the Cowley/Sumner County line. It was determined the battery had occurred in the 1000 block of US 166 in Cowley County. John Post, rural Geuda Springs, was arrested for domestic battery.
A theft was reported in the 32000 block of 91st Rd. in which change and a GPS unit had been stolen from cars parked at that residence.
A disabled motorist was assisted in the 21000 block of 21st Rd.
A one car minor accident occurred in the 33000 block of US 77.
