Donald Eastman

Donald Eastman, 70, of Winfield, Kan., passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice in Winfield.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Central Baptist Church in Winfield. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials have been established with the Central Baptist Building Fund or the Hospice Care of Kansas. The Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home & Crematory of Arkansas City is in charge of arrangements. Donald Dean Eastman was born on January 15, 1944, the son of Leo and Thelma Floyd Eastman in Winfield. Don overhauled jet engines for G.E. from 1966 until his retirement in 2002. He was united in marriage with Betty J. Anderson on October 13, 1989, in Miami, Okla. The couple enjoyed RVing all over the United States. Don enjoyed trains, his dog and being outdoors. He enjoyed coaching children’s baseball, 4-H and was a member of the Cowley County Fair board for many years. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Winfield. Most of all, Don loved his wife and family dearly.

Surviving to honor his memory are his wife, Betty Eastman, of Winfield; his mother, Thelma Eastman, of Winfield; his daughter, Gaydeana Hickman, and husband, Robin, of Bozeman, Mont.; Clint Eastman of Washington State, Mark Lowry and wife Julie of Belle Plaine; his sister, Pat Smith, of Winfield; and his brothers, Jack Eastman, and wife, Neida, and Ronald Eastman and wife, Carolyn, both of Winfield; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his father, sister, Peggy Gray, daughter, Angela Eastman and step-son Richard Lowry.
