Galways owner arrested for liquor law crimes

Two people were arrested late Thursday following a state investigation into liquor law violations at Galway’s Bar in Winfield.

Levi King, 32, Wichita, was arrested and faces charges for allowing consumption in violation of act, offering free alcoholic liquor and serving outside legal hours of operation.

He was released early Friday after posting $3,250 bond. King is the owner-operator of the bar and was arrested there.

Laura D. Weakley, 22, Wichita, was arrested and faces a charge of offering free liquor. Her bond was set at $1,000 and she has been released, according to jail records.

Winfield Police Chief Danny Parker said state and local licenses, that allow the bar to operate as a drinking establishment, have been suspended.

An undercover investigation, which led to the arrests, was conducted by the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control.

ABC has investigated previous problems at the bar and King has been arrested in the past. The bar opened at the first of the year.
