Fire causes heavy damage to AC home Wed.

A home in Ark City was heavily damaged by smoke and fire early Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

Fire crews were called to 214 North D around 12:30 a.m. to a report of a home on fire. The interior of the middle section of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

One person inside the home at the time the blaze broke out was able to escape uninjured.

Martin Meeks lives at the home which he is currently purchasing from his sister, Diana Turner, who is listed in county records as the property owner, fire officials said.

Fire crews worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control. So far an official cause has not been determined. Damage to the home is estimated at $30,000 and damage to contents of the house is estimated at $10,000.
