Winfield police making promotions, changes

The Winfield Police Dept. has made some promotions in rank and assigned new duties for a number of officers. All changes will take place after the first of the year, police chief Danny Parker said this week.

Sgt. Chad Gordon – who has worked in investigations for the past several years – has been promoted to the position of lieutenant. He will be moving from investigations to patrol.

David Dougherty has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and will also move to patrol. Dougherty is currently a master patrolman working in investigations.

Master patrolman Floyd Clarkson also has been promoted to sergeant and will continue to oversee dispatch and communications.

Longtime department veteran Lt. Kurt Weber will be making the move from patrol to head of investigations. Sgt. Robbie DeLong also will move to investigations.

The department also expects to move one master patrolmen to investigations but a decision on who that might be has not been made.

The changes were necessitated by departure of Lt. Frank Owens who now works part time for the department after accepting a teaching job with Cowley College.
