Man shows up at hospital with knife cuts Fri.

An area man suffered knife lacerations to his neck, ear and arm in an altercation that occurred Friday at a home in rural Winfield, Cowley County Sheriff Don Read said.

Around 4:20 p.m., Cecil Wayne Staley Jr., 43, showed up at William Newton Hospital suffering from at least three cut-type injuries. Authorities were called and the investigation led to a residence in the 11000 block of 152nd Rd.

Staley and two others were at that home when an argument led to an altercation. No one has been arrested but a suspect, who could face an aggravated battery charge, has been identified.

It’s possible alcohol was a factor in the incident. Read said Staley appeared to suffer injuries that were serious but not life threatening.
