Rural Cowley County home damaged by fire

A home in rural Cowley County sustained significant fire and smoke damage Tuesday afternoon. No one was injured.

Occupants of the residence, located at 2434 61st Rd. west of Rock, were home at the time but were able to evacuate the area safely. Around 1:15 p.m., crews from Udall, Atlanta and Winfield responded to the scene.

Flames around the roof of the home were visible to firefighters arriving at the scene. The home had wood shingles.

Firefighters at the scene said damage appeared to be significant inside and outside of the residence.

The house belongs to Derral and Paula Clark, according to Cowley County property records.

An official cause of the blaze remains under investigation at this time. Check back for more as it is available.
