Cowley County Sheriff’s Reports for December 14 – 15, 2011

DECEMBER 14

Several hay bales were reported lying on US 160 between Cambridge and the Elk County line. Deputies found about 20 small bales scattered over about an 8 mile stretch of highway. Winfield Police officers stopped a semi truck loaded with hay that was discovered to be missing about that number of bales off its load.

Two cows were out in the 26000 block of 141st Rd.

The Winfield Police Department reported a possible hit and run accident involving a commercial truck that was southbound on US 77. Deputies located and stopped the truck in the 25000 block of US 77 and discovered there had been no accident; however, a safety inspection resulted in the truck being placed out of service for various violations.

A car/deer accident occurred in the 1000 block of 11th Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to the 29000 block of Eastridge Drive to meet with the resident regarding miscellaneous concerns.

A 911 hangup call was checked in the 31000 block of K-15. It was found to be a dialing error and everything was fine.

Jesse Schulte, Winfield, was cited for possession of marijuana.

A Winfield Police officer was assisted by deputies with a traffic stop in the 500 block of Manning. The driver was found to be driving with a suspended drivers license and was arrested by the Winfield officer on that charge.

An abandoned vehicle was found parked in the 11000 block of K-360.

A pedestrian walking southbound on US 77 just south of Rock was checked. The pedestrian said he was walking from Augusta to Bartlesville. He was checked and given a ride to the Oklahoma state line south of Ark City.

Jaime Cloud, Ark City, was arrested on a probation violation warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of vandalism to a mailbox in the 8000 block of 201st Rd. During the investigation, they discovered criminal damage to another mailbox, a stop sign, to 911 road signs, a newspaper box, a seat sign, and a feed container in the area northwest of Burden.

A car/dear accident was reported in the 1000 block of 11th Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Maitland Avenue to check for a raccoon causing dogs to bark.

A mail carrier was bitten by a dog in the 4000 block of 72nd Rd.

An involuntary mental health commitment was transported to Osawatomie State Hospital.

Deputies checked, and being unable to contact the owner, towed a vehicle found parked in the road in the 4000 block of 202nd Rd.

A prisoner was transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

A stranded motorist was assisted in the 21000 block of US 77.

Winfield Police officers were assisted by deputies and clearing a residence that was the scene of an aggravated burglary in Winfield.
