Woman says people tried to enter her house

Winfield authorities are looking into the report of an attempted break-in said to have occurred over the weekend, police chief Danny Parker said.

The incident – which happened early Saturday but was not reported until Monday – happened around 2 a.m. when unknown suspects attempted to enter a home at 515 E. Fourth using a large rock.

Norma Pink was home at the time, heard the noise and told police she yelled at the suspects.

The woman told police she could hear a voice say “I though you said she wasn’t home.”

The suspects fled and nothing was taken from the home.

Police are investigating the case as an aggravated burglary. It is one in a number of recent burglaries, thefts and aggravated burglaries that have occurred recently.

Local residents are advised to be cautious and to look out for any suspicious activity.
