AC man, 23, found in the home of a stranger

An Ark City man was arrested early Friday after police said he was found standing in the home of someone he did not know.

Officers responded to a home in the north Maple Park area around 6 a.m., when someone called to report a stranger inside their house. A resident informed officers that they had awoken, unlocked a door leading to an attached garage and fed their dogs.

The homeowner was working in the kitchen when they came out to find a man standing in their mud room.

Police arrived and made contact with a suspect, Prince Nwokorie, 23, who was arrested and taken into custody for criminal trespass. Nwokorie was released on $350 bond the same day.

Ark City police urge homeowners to lock the door leading from their garage to their house and to keep the overhead garage door closed except to come and go in their vehicles. This is a common entrance used by burglars to enter home, police said in a written statement.
