Cowley County Sheriff’s Reports for December 28 – 29, 2011

DECEMBER 28

Horses were reported missing from the 6000 block of 302nd Rd. The owner was advised of horses previously reported found in the 31000 block of 51st Rd. which sounded like theirs.

Johnny Lee Knight, Ark City, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were assisted by deputies in investigating a serious one car injury accident in the 11000 block of 212th Rd.

A possible drunk driver was reported southbound from Udall on 21st Rd.

A cow was out and in the neighbor’s yard in the 17000 block of 181st Rd.

DECEMBER 29

A possible drunk driver was reported northbound on 71st Rd. from US 77. The vehicle was later located and checked in the city of Winfield by Winfield Police officers.

A car/deer accident occurred in the 15000 block of US 77.

Ark City Emergency Medical Services and deputies responded to a medical call involving a child falling downstairs in the 31000 block of 51st Rd.

A suspicious vehicle was reported parked in a field near the 12100 block of 226th Rd. It was determined to be a legitimate deer hunter.

Suspicious activity was reported around a vacant house near Rock.

Deputies were contacted by the Wichita Police Department regarding a person missing from Wichita who had reportedly gone to the Oklahoma casinos that morning and was due back to Wichita in the early afternoon, but had never returned. It was discovered that at about 12:30 PM that afternoon the person had been arrested by Kansas Highway Patrol troopers for driving under the influence north of Winfield and was then in the Cowley County jail. The Wichita Police Department was notified of his status.

A verbal disturbance was investigated in the 31700 block of 55th Ln.

A miscellaneous family problem was reported by a county resident.

Winfield Police officers were assisted by deputies with a domestic disturbance at St. James Court.

Cattle were on the road in the 14000 block of 151st Rd.

A disabled vehicle parked on the side of the road was checked in the 5000 block of 322nd Rd.
