DECEMBER 30

An illegal dumping complaint was received in the 13000 block of 136th Rd.

Deputies escorted a funeral procession from Miles Funeral Service, Winfield, to the Akron Cemetery.

A suspicious vehicle was reported to have been seen driving around in the area of 106th Rd. and 61st Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to a verbal disturbance in the 4000 block of South Pike Road.

Deputies escorted a funeral procession from Miles Funeral Service to Highland Cemetery.

Winfield Police officers were assisted by deputies in locating a truck in the 19000 block of 151st Rd.

A driver reported that he had hit a deer in the 16000 block of 112th Rd. There was insufficient damage to the car to require an accident report and the dead deer was removed from the road.

A disabled vehicle was reported in the 24000 block of K-15.

A motorist reported he had hit a dog on the road in the 6000 block of 212th Rd., but had no vehicle damage and did not need an accident report.

Deputies assisted a motorist who had vehicle trouble and had locked herself out of her vehicle in the 7000 block of 21st Rd.

DECEMBER 31

A deputy struck a deer with his patrol car on 32nd Rd. near 101st Rd., East of Rock.

Deputies were advised of a pickup with numerous items in the back seen leaving the Westar Substation on K-15 east of Rock. The witness subsequently saw that pickup turn North from K-15 on the 11th Rd. The Rose Hill Police Department was notified and stopped a vehicle in Rose Hill and confirmed that it contained a substantial amount of electrical wiring and materials. Following further investigation by deputies the driver of the pickup, Enrique Corral Parra, Wichita, was arrested for theft and criminal trespass and booked into the Cowley County jail.

A large amount of smoke was reported coming from the area of 23rd Rd. and 266th Rd. A controlled burn of a brush pile was found and everything was fine.

A telephone harassment complaint was reported in Atlanta.

Deputies were dispatched to the 19000 block of 151st Rd. to check a report that a vehicle stolen from Ark City may have been left at that location. The vehicle was located and confirmed as having been stolen from Ark City. Information developed at the scene was coordinated with the Ark City Police Department, the investigating agency on the theft.

A person target shooting was checked in the 3200 block of North 23rd in Ark City.

A reckless driver was reported westbound in the 9000 block of US 166.

Udall Fire Departme and deputies responded to an unknown fire in the 6700 block of 22nd Rd. It was found to be a controlled burn.

A vehicle observed turning off K-15 on to 41st Rd and then turning off its lights was checked and found to be a motorist taking a necessary break.

A battery was reported in the 31000 block of 61st Rd. Ryan Michael McNulty, Ark City, was arrested for battery. William Donald Alberts, Ark City, was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, battery of a law-enforcement officer and obstruction of legal process.

A semi truck was reported to be weaving all over the road southbound on US 77 from Rock. The truck was located and stopped at US 77 and 132nd Rd. after some weaving within its Lane was observed. The driver had not been drinking, and reported having problems with the wind.
