Cowley County Sheriff’s Reports for January 11 – 12, 2012

JANUARY 11

A cow was on the road in the 12000 block of 151st Rd.

Deputies were dispatched to the 20000 block of US 77 to check a report of heavy smoke blowing across the road from a nearby brush fire.

A funeral procession was escorted from Miles Funeral Home to Highland Cemetery, Winfield.

A minor accident involving a city vehicle was checked in the 1300 block of North Summit, Ark City.

Deputies were dispatched to Rock regarding a property line dispute between neighbors.

A telephone harassment complaint was reported in the 13000 block of US 166.

Deputies took a lost or stolen license tag report from a trailer owned by Morton Buildings at Strother Field.

Two prisoners were transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

Deputies were dispatched to US 166 to watch for an erratic driver reported by this Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office to be westbound on US 166 from Cedar Vale. The vehicle was found, and after checking, no impairments were noted.

A miscellaneous dog complaint was received from an Eastridge resident.

Ark City Police officers and deputies responded to a verbal disturbance at a business in the 1600 block of North Summit.

Deputies were dispatched to the 21000 block of Hoover regarding a trailer repossession issue.

A vehicle slid off the road into a ditch in the 5000 block of US 160. There was no damage and the vehicle was able to be driven out of the ditch under its own power. No accident report was needed.

A vehicle was reported to have gone off the road in the 15000 block of US 77. Upon arrival deputies found the tracks, but the vehicle had gotten out of the ditch and continued on its way.

A vehicle was found in the ditch in the 7000 block of US 160. The vehicle has
slid off the road due to weather conditions, but there was no damage and was able to be driven out on its own power.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were assisted by deputies with investigating a one vehicle non-injury roll over accident near 71st Rd. on US 77.

The welfare of a resident was checked in the 11000 block of 132nd Rd.

A one vehicle non-injury rollover accident occurred in the 7000 block of 211th Rd.

A one vehicle non-injury accident occurred in the 10000 block of 211th Rd.

JANUARY 12

Allen Santiago, Ark City, was arrested for driving under the influence in the 10000 block of 292nd Rd.

A one vehicle rollover accident occurred in the 6000 block of 151st Rd.

Sheriff’s deputies investigated a subject who has allegedly violated the offender registration act. Charges to be filed after report is sent to the Cowley County attorney.

A vehicle was checked in the 21000 block of US 77.

Deputies were dispatched to the 29000 block of Eastridge Drive for a criminal damage to property report which was unfounded.

A prisoner was transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

Deputies received a call from a resident in the 11000 block of 132nd Rd. who had a question in regards to an incident regarding hunters in that area recently.

William Robert Marsh-Vardy Jr, Ark City, was arrested on a probation violation warrant.

Fifteen head of cattle were on the road in the 16000 block of 136th the welfare the welfare Rd.

The welfare of two subjects on horse-drawn wagons was checked in the 15000 block of 172nd Rd.

An injured deer was checked in the 13000 block of 101st Rd.

Cathy Sue Sherman, Winfield, was arrested in the 500 block of East 18th on a Cowley County District Ct. warrant for failure to appear.

A criminal damage report in reference to a damaged vehicle windshield was reported in the 6000 block of K-15.

After contacting a traffic stop for a speeding violation, two subjects, Storm Marler, Newton, and Shanna Seyfarth, Bentonville, AR, were cited for transporting an open container of alcohol.

A vehicle was checked in the 25000 block of US 77.
