2 hurt, 1 arrested in incident at Winfield home

Two local residents were hospitalized after they were attacked during a domestic disturbance in Winfield early Saturday morning.Their alleged attacker has been arrested and remained in jail Monday.

Around 3:55 a.m., police were called to 406 E. Sixth in response to an altercation between Jerry L. Crowder, 39, Winfield and his significant other. During the incident, Mary A. Adams and Damon C. Saar were said to have been attacked by Crowder, according to police chief Danny Parker.

Adams suffered a broken arm, after reportedly being beaten with a baseball bat, while Saar was punched and kicked repeatedly. Saar suffered a skull fracture.

Crowder left the scene of the incident but was eventually apprehended at an address on Bliss in Winfield.

Saar was transported to Wesley Medical Center and is currently listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson. A condition for Adams was not immediately available.

Crowder was arrested and faces two counts of aggravated battery. His bond was set at $75,000.
