2 remain in jail after forgery incident at bank

Two Wichita residents were arrested Saturday following a forgery attempt at the RCB Bank location in Winfield, according to information from local police. Authorities believe the pair could be involved in a large-scale crime operation.

Terry Wayne Ross, 52, and Suzana Hernandez, 37, were booked into jail on two counts each of forgery. Both remained in jail Monday and their bonds were set at $75,000.

The incident that led to their arrests occurred just before noon when police were called to the bank in the 1600 block of Main. The suspects were reportedly at the bank and attempting to pass a forged check.

They were arrested a short time later.

Winfield chief of police Danny Parker provided few details of the investigation.

Parker did say that investigators do not believe Ross and Hernandez to be the main players in what is thought to be a larger crime ring. He described the case as complex and said police were in the beginning stages of determining the extent of the criminal activity involved.

Details will be released when police know more, Parker said.
