Goodwill opening store in Winfield; closing AC

Goodwill is opening a retail store in east Winfield and closing a smaller location in Ark City, the organization announced Wednesday.

Emily Compton, president and CEO for Goodwill Industries of Kansas Inc., said 9,600 square feet of space in the Winfield Plaza is being remodeled for the new store. It is set to open in March.

The new store will replace the Ark City store and most employees will be relocated to the new location.

Four to five new jobs will be available as a result of the change because the Winfield store will be open seven days each week. The new location will occupy the former Ziegler’s hardware store.

Proceeds from store sales go to fund specialized training programs and services for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Goodwill Kansas is headquartered in Wichita.
