Cowley County Sheriff’s Reports for February 17 – 19, 2012

FEBRUARY 17

A female pedestrian carrying a small child was reported to be walking in the 15600 block of US 77. No one was found.

Goats were reported out along the road in the 30 2000 block of US 77.

Deputies were contacted regarding a civil vehicle title complaint.

Suspicious tracks found around the residence was reported in the 3200 block of East Birch, Parkerfield.

A domestic disturbance was reported in the 10000 block of 242nd Rd.

A prisoner was transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

A car/deer accident occurred in the 5000 block of K-15.

The theft of prescription medications was reported from a residence in the 8000 block of 332nd Rd.

The driver of a vehicle, stopped on the side of the road, was found to be lost in seeking directions. They were assisted and continued on their way.

A vehicle stopped in the 21000 block of US 77 had run out of gasoline, but had called for help and gasoline was on the way to his location.

FEBRUARY 18

A vehicle was stopped for failing to maintain a single Lane of traffic in the 10000 block of US 166. The driver, Kent Edward Bogart, Ark City, had been drinking. He was arrested for driving under the influence.

A possible gas leak was reported in the 32000 block of 61st Rd. No odor or leak was found.

Christian David Tapia, Ark City, was arrested for driving under the influence and minor in consumption in the 200 block of West Vine.

Three prisoners were transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

A horse was reported out at the US 166/K-15 junction.

A pedestrian was walking near the US 77/K-15 junction. The pedestrian was located and given a ride to Udall.

Deputies were called to the Winfield Police Department to talk with a resident concerning a family dispute.

An open door on an abandoned house was reported in the 26000 block of 31st Rd.

Deputies and Udall Police officers were dispatched to a residence in Udall on a report that someone was trying to break into the house. It was the property owner entering.

Deputies stopped a vehicle for erratic driving in Dexter. The driver was a juvenile driving in violation of his restrictions. He was cited for that violation and released to a parent.

A report was received from the Kay County Sheriff’s Office of a possible drunk driver northbound from the casinos on US 77. The vehicle was located in Ark City. The driver was not intoxicated.

Udall Police officers and deputies were dispatched to a report of gunshots being heard in the 300 block of Seymour, Udall. Officers did not hear any shooting and nothing suspicious was found.

FEBRUARY 19

Winfield Police officers were assisted by deputies at a disturbance in the 400 block of West Eighth.

Winfield Police officers and deputies investigated an injury accident in the 1700 block of Main.

Mailboxes were reported damaged overnight in the 31000 and the 32000 blocks of 91st Rd. and in the 7000 block of 312th Rd.

A De Walt power washer was reported stolen in the 3000 block of US 166.

A hitchhiker in the 31000 block of US 77 was given a ride to the Oklahoma state line.

An English Mastiff dog was reported missing from a residence in the 10700 block of 322nd Rd. cents February 18th.

Two prisoners were transported to the Cowley County jail for the Ark City Police Department.

A car/deer accident occurred in the 6000 block of K-15.

Deputies checked a vehicle blocking traffic at Ninth and Loomis in Winfield. A disoriented elderly male driver was assisted by locating family members who came and got the driver and the vehicle.

A semi truck with locked up transmission was found in the 26000 block of US 77. Deputies provided traffic control until Strickland’s Wrecker Service was able to get there and remove the truck.
