Galway’s Bar closes Saturday, will not reopen

Galway’s Bar in Winfield closed over the weekend and will not reopen for business. The bar had been operating as a beer-only bar since last month.

The owner of the property, located at 1014 Main, confirmed the building was available for lease. No reason was given for the closing of the bar, which was last open on Saturday.

Galway’s had struggled with legal issues since the bar first opened under that name in January 2011. Then owner Levi King has since been convicted of violations of the state’s liquor laws.

Last month, the city had granted the bar a beer-only license when attempts to get a state liquor license had been unsuccessful.
