William Taylor III

William A. Taylor, III, 66, of Winfield, Kan., passed away Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012, at his home.

An Episcopal service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow at the Winfield County Club. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials have been established in Mr. Taylor’s name for the Cowley County Humane Society, the Cowley County Historical Society and for the Grace Episcopal Church Endowment Fund. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Born August 1, 1945, in Winfield, he was the son of William A. Jr., and Suzanne (Martin) Taylor. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1963. He then attended Washburn University in Topeka graduating with an undergraduate degree in 1968 and received his law degree from Washburn Law School in 1971.

Bill was united in marriage to Marilyn Tadtman on June 8, 1968, at Saint Mary’s Chapel in Ft. Riley. The couple made their first home in Topeka. In 1971, they returned to Winfield where Bill began practicing law. He served as the County Counselor for Cowley County for over 37 years. Bill was passionate about serving his community and clients. He found fulfillment in the many ways he served.

He was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Winfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working outside in his garden. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Taylor Jr., and wife, Sharon of Winfield; His son: Stephen Taylor of Denver, CO; His daughter: Adriene Marks and husband, Brad of Overland Park; His grandchildren: Jack and Kate Marks of Overland Park; Schorr and Will Taylor of Denver, CO; His brother: Marty Taylor and Theresa Arnold of Colorado Springs, CO; His sisters: Lexy Pfeifley and husband, Brad of Tucson, AZ; Ze McDowell and husband Randy of Philadelphia, PA; and His numerous extended family. Bill was preceded in death by his mother Suzanne Martin Taylor.
