AC cops release stats from seat belt stops

Ark City police have released numbers from a nighttime seat belt enforcement effort conducted Tuesday night in the 300 and 400 block of S. Summit.

Authorities were set up for four hours and issued 17 seat belt citations, found two driver’s license violations and one no proof of insurance violation. Thirteen separate traffic stops were made during this time.

One stop led to the arrest of Eric R. Crabtree, 46, for DUI and no seat belt.

Police in Ark City are using the nighttime enforcement initiative in an effort to encourage the use of seat belts, lap belts and child restraints.
